My Story

I am Diana Shupe, CS, principal artist of Brushwork Studios, and have always had a passion for decorative arts. I come from a long line of painters in my family, and at an early age my talent was recognized and nurtured by my parents. Specializing in decorative arts in college, I earned a B.S. in Textile Design from Philadelphia University in 1985. Since that time, I have taken all that I have learned and honed my skills on painted surfaces. Taking up stenciling as a hobby in the early 90s, I soon became hooked and by 1994 I was working as a professional decorative artist.

I am skilled in all areas of faux finishes, stenciling, Trompe L'oeil, and muraling, and have earned the title of Certified Stenciler (CS) through The Stencil Artisans League, Intl.  I have recently expanded my business to include interior re-design services, window treatments, and accessories to offer my clients a total room design concept.

I have completed many professional decorative painting courses at nationally recognized schools.  Having always believed that education is the key to success, I became a founding member of the Peachtree Decorative Artists Guild (PDA), an Atlanta based membership organization for those interested in Decorative Arts as a profession.

I have been a guest instructor at several decorative painting schools in the Atlanta area and for the PDA, and am now offering decorative painting classes at Lost Mountain Paint in Marietta, Georgia.  My goal is to impart my knowledge of over 10 years of practical experience and business expertise, and offer a new twist in learning painted finishes.
